The first two triathlons - olympic distance in Harsewinkel and middle distance in Bocholt! And Sveny of the Pirate triathlon team was doin' good! Sveny began the triathlon season on May 28th in Harsewinkel. An olympic distance consisting of a .6m/1km swim, a 25m/40km bike ride and a 6m/10km run, was the plan. Unfortunately there aren't any pictures, but there are awesome results. 6th place overall out of the women and 3rd in her age division!

Last weekend, she followed up with the middle distance in Bocholt. 1.2m/2km swim in Lake Aa, then a 50m/80km bike ride, followed by a 12m/20km run.
Bocholt is is a pretty big triathlon event, with 1st and 2nd Federal League and almost 1400 starters distributed amongst the individual races, it's one of the biggest events in all of North Rhine-Westphalia!

After registration the mood is awesome, the sun is shining and it's all good!
However, we had to get up at 5am to get to the start (8:30am) on time.

She became a little bit sceptical right before the race and didn't really feel like taking part, which she kept mentioning..., a very good sign!!! About 3 weeks earlier, we had both beaten our personal records on a 6m/10km run, even though neither of us felt like running at all!
Sveny in 1st and Captain Klotz in 5th and 1st in his age division, out of almost 400 runners! Oh yeah, I'm getting closer and closer to the 34min mark! We'll crack that baby too J!!!!

The 1.2m/2km swim in the lake also included two hikes along the bank! Sveny's the girl in the yellow cap!! The swimming was awesome and better than usual on that distance! A quick change onto the bike!

A flat, fast, but very windy track with a length of 12m/20km and a turning point, which was traveled 4 times. Sveny was doin' godd and even able to advance amongst the women!

Sveny's favorite part was up next. After 50m/80km on her bike, she began to run the eight 1.5m/2,5km laps! When the Captain cried out, "Places 6,5 and 4 are right in front of you", an extremely fast switch followed! Sveny quickly passed the women in 6th and 5th place and after 10m/16km, the woman in 4th place was toast!
If the track had been just 1.2m/2km longer Sveny would have come in in 3rd place! Whatever, next race then J. The fastest running split was Sveny's. She was 3min ahead of the next runner!

An awesome race. 4th woman overall and 1st in her age division and all that in 86°F/30°C weather!

On the drive home, which was pretty long, we attempted to take some funny pictures like those of Nina from the triathlon team and Gregor…
