Suzuki NIGHT of the JUMPs / IFMXF FIM World
Championship Bremen, April 1/2 2006
The weekend in Bremen went quite well for me. Since it was a
"Suzuki NIGHT of the JUMPs / IFMXF FIM World Championship" event,
there were no prequalification rounds. So, I had to be content
with participating in the "Highest Air-Contest".
The jump was once again in good shape and would allow great
heights.
After a few jumps one could tell that it would be another exciting
final between Libor Podmol and myself.
In the end, I had to admit defeat, at 27.2ft/8,3m, to Libor
who jumped 27.8ft/8,5m.
The second day went similar to the first. Libor and I pushed
each other to higher and higher heights and he managed to clear
28.5ft/8,7m, while I raised my personal record by .3ft/10cm
(to 27.8ft/8,5). After watching a few video analyses of the
contest, I discovered that my problem isn't the height, but
that it is the width. Hard to believe in a Highest-Air contest,
but true.
Everytime I knocked down the bar it was from above, which means
that my technique has to get better.
We'll see.
