End-of-Season Double-Feature ...

Even without photos you will have to believe me that Biebergrund 2006 was a mud fest of excellence.
120 kilometers on continuously rained-on softness. Amazing to me is that I'm beginning to enjoy such conditions.
If I'd had a license from Hesse I would now be the bronze finalist of the second age group. But Hamburg licenses don't count and ... how far is Hamburg away from Biebergrund ... and who wants to be here anyway? Without the mud the race would actually be a bit boring. However, quite long a distance, it has the famous incline "Arzborn", which is a respectable pinch.
BUT!!! I'm beginning to ask myself what this is ... Due to the early dismanteling of the men's showers I found myself, AGAIN, in the ladie's facilities. Wet and cozy it was ... err ... in the showers ... and, yes, a bit of prize-money came along too (3rd age group2/8th older than 30/17th total).

A few weeks later, Hirschberg 2006:
Home-run for the season! My only worry was if the bike would last as the components were slowly becoming soft.

But the bike made it. As usual in Hirschberg the most exciting part is the neutralized zone in which each year the competitors can test their current bike's brakes. The trail is physically demanding, not too technical and, as a fall-ride, stunningly beautiful. The downhills were obviously made for me. In fact, this is the first race in which I actually got my position from doing well in the downhills. Coming in 4th in "age group 2" and 22nd total was an OK result.

OK, one more pose, unfortunately no ladie's showers, and off I go into the late-season.
I hope you all had as much fun as I did this year. Don't freeze your bums off.

Alex
