Last weekend I was off to a show once again. This time to the
north for the ADAC Sx-Cup in Kiel. Jimmy Verburgh, Rémi Bizouard,
Chris Birth, Fabian Bauersachs and I were the riders for the
FMX Show.
Since I remembered the arena well from previous years, I knew
pretty much what to expect concerning the landing mound. After
the first inspection I could almost put my mind at ease. The
landing mound was a gigantic steep bank right after the last
jump, which, at the same time, was an entrance, through a gateway,
that went under the stands.
The first part of the training proceeded without problems, but
when the ramp got pushed back another time, I didn't have quite
enough speed leading up to my first jump, and didn't quite make
the landing. Or, to be exact, the back wheel didn't make it
over the edge, which made for a pretty nice impact. However,
I didn't fall, just had a pain in my wrist.
The next day everything felt surprisingly better and so I was
able to jump the three shows that were spread out throughout
the evening without the problem. With almost 5000 spectators
the arena was just about sold out. I think the audience had
a good time, because phat tricks and even flips over 66ft/20m,
tore even the cynics from their seats.
Today (02/10) I was at the X-Park in Dresden with Hannes to
train a little more for the Night of the Jumps in Mannheim,
because next Wednesday (02/15) I'm going to try to qualify myself.
Until then…
Florian
Oh...by the way, I almost forgot, the pics are all taken by
Olaf Thode.
