On Sunday June 18th, I stood at the starting line of the 8th
Rheingauer MTB Marathon, in the new daring BSN-PIRATE outfit
for the first time.
I came in 6th in my "nursing" division ll, 32nd overall,
a clear improvement to last year. I improved by 16 places on
the 38m/61km track with 4921 vertical ft/1500hm. Just over 1000
starters had made their way to the dusty slope and rejoiced
over the bright sunshine and a successful event, together with
the "Pink Streaks".
The most spectacular part of the track that was also a spectator
magnet, was the Zange-Downhill, which some of the participants
went down on foot. Among the spectators was my Forest Champ
Tanja Wittig of the Maestro Team Wein, who wasn't able to take
part in her team's race, due to an injury.
I would like to also applaud the organizers Red Pulse. The starter
costs were very low. It cost 11 Euros per person and one of
those Euros each went to the Bärenherz organization, a
foundation for seriously ill children, as a donation. --
