Next year I'll pack one to be on the safe side. After the starting
line, which was at a meadow incline, the track went over a jump
that has been higher in past years, in my opinion. After that
we there was an unimpressive part of forest and then we got
back to the meadow. Now it was time to pedal and uphill no less.
In the next leg the track had been completely overhauled.Overall
everything was bit faster and not as clunky as last year. Luckily
the last part was almost exactly like last year. Bus stop chicanery,
a road gap and a jump over some slippery roots and a near miss
going in between some trees, made for a fun time.
I had even more fun at the qualification.Since I had some problems
with grip on the forest ground, my buddies advised me to try
a different kind of tire. So I quickly went on my way and got
some. Believe it or not, it worked. The bike stuck to the ground
and I was thinking "Yipee" down the entire incline. Down in
the village all I had to do was go along a paved street, turn
left and then - quittin' time. Howver, I had made my calculation
without the tires. So, out of the woods, down the street, slight
steering into the turn and then UhOh! Even the smallest attempt
at steering and the bike slid out from under me. I made the
turn on an awesome power slide and pounded into the barrier.
The track announcer commented with a loud, Woahhh a crash. (After
studying the pic it could be that I merely fell asleep while
riding.)
It was just the qualification. During the race everything was
running well for 10th place. In the afternoon Alutech pro biker
T. Eichner explained the differences between drinks to us. At
least I think that's what he was doing. My friend David's and
my eyes were closed behind our sunglasses.
Greetings,
Andreas
