Pirates on snow - or… the seven dwarves found their Snow White….

Once again the Sauerland Pirates went skiing in the small, introspective village of Jerzens in Pitz valley, in order to balance the disharmony of the musculature… Had I known before what all would happen, I would have sold the tv rights to a daily soap. I'm sure the ratings would have killed. What all happened…
… how the seven dwarves suddenly found their Snow White...
… how the "bird flu" broke out overnight in one of the rooms…
… how ski-beginner got to know the Apres Ski…
… how to present the Pirate swimsuit collection at a height of 9843ft/3000m in 14 degrees F/-10 degrees C….

But let's start at the beginning… during the night of the 20th to the 21st seven Pirates arrived in Jerzens and took over command. Immediately after a small breakfast we were off to the slopes, in order to take over the lordliness there too. In the evening the Pirates met at the hotel bar, in order to "control" that situation as well. The first surprise happened there… the manager of the hotel introduced us to a cousin (an athletic, , preppy Swiss girl), who was vacationing there alone, and asked us whether or not we would take care of her a little bit!? Scare, the diplomat of the Sauerland Pirates, immediately took over the conversation and kicked-off the "national game". After the "ice" was broken and after the first fruit juices were consumed together, it was quickly established that Susi, the cousin of the house, fit in with the Pirates very well.

After a brief warning from Captain Stedebeker the dress code was sorted and the Pirates put on their battle gear, the skull and crossbones outfit. Immediately Daniel the bartender knew what was in store for him and he stopped asking us whether or not we wanted any more to drink and just began serving us various cups of hops and the Austrian "fruit juices" that were appreciated by all. At a later point in time, when the Pirates had driven all the other hotel patrons away, the juke box was also taken over and finally Highway to Hell was played. So now the whole place was being kept in check… and the seven Pirate-dwarves had found their Snow White…

During the following days we concentrated on controlled falling down the beautiful slopes of the area.

On the morning of the third day, the first drop-outs took place. I guess some of us didn't survive the "vital treatment" of the past evening as well as others and didn't make it to breakfast. And when "Belozok" Hartmut, to the amusement of the surrounding tables, remarked: "In my room it smells and looks like there was an outbreak of the bird flu…"

Captain Stedebeker was forced to act.Today the group photo had to be taken quickly before the troupe falls completely apart….
At noon, when we arrived at the Angel's Canopy, at 9843ft/3000m, Pirate "Jack" Kurras played track 17 to get the party started. He immediately pulled out his lasso and lived up to his name as cowboy of the slopes and entertainer. When everyone was good and awake, I called for a group photo.

Bartender and Austria's only Pirate, Daniel was waiting for us with a little surprise… Since we wanted to take a group picture in Pirate outfits, he made sure that our Snow White had a piece of Pirate clothing - the bikini! Snow White Susi didn't hesitate and changed into the bikini at a temperature of 14 degrees F/-10 degrees C and a height of 9843ft/3000m. Pirate "Cue Ball" showed solidarity by stripping down too. I'm sure you can imagine that this sort of nudism at this height caused quite a sensation… but only so much that the lifts weren't halted…

Of course we continually prepared ourselves for the annual ski race. Last years title had to be defended.

The Pirate's spearhead Cowboy Jack unfortunately didn't take the preparations so seriously the night before the race. He had to be carried to bed from the bar at 3am, after he had entered the final hunting ground… However, it all ended well, Cowboy Jack defended the title, coming in right in front of Captain Stedebeker and so the trophy went to the Pirate crew…

There are many other anecdotes to tell, but we don't want to expose everything to the public…

Thanks a lot to the crew of the Hotel Andy… hopefully we will see you again, raring to go, in 2007, when once again we say…

Pirates on snow....
