...no it's not an archive photo of Jörg Hüter, but
the races really do seem to be repeating themselves where the
consistency of the ground is concerned
The long weekend started on Wednesday evening with a few very
wet practice runs in Kassel.
This was the training for the Buchholzer GP on Ascencion Day.
In the high standard C-race an award was won and nearly a second
one too. In the last lap I got a little stuck on the ascent,
so in the end I was only among the first 20. I could have done
better.
On Friday I inspected the lap of the Winterberg Marathon in
the Sauerland. The weather forcast announced rain and snowfall
for that Saturday.
And that's what we got. It was about 37°F/3°C and we
stood at the starting point in pouring rain.
I definitely did some riding in the slipstream on the not ver
technical course (2 x 29m/47km and 3445 vertical ft/1050km).
After just a few minutes the brilliantly white BSN-Pirate jersey
was extremely bespeckled, which didn't stop me from coming in
5th in my white jersey..
Of course some Dutch guy, who had already won the Kellerwald
Marathon, won the race.
