The Lucky, Pink Jersey

After having to scrape the ice off of the speedometer last week in Willingen, the Würzburg-Marathon promised summerly weather. Obviously, our nifty, new, discreetly pink summer outfit had to be tested! I quickly felt ver discreetly pink... wherever I went, people whispered "Pirate- PINK????!“, "Oh dear, a pink Pirate...", "So they're pink now?". Oh well, in one ear and out the other and I bravely made my way to the starting line!

The track was awesome! A short asphalt descent and then off into nowhere. A lot of narrow forest trails and country lanes with two nice and juicy single trails, motivated me to give it all I had.
Haven't covered this much terrain in a marathon in a long time (e.g. in Willingen you would have been able to keep up with a cross bike...).
Of course a lap around a vinyard wasn't amiss.
After 20.5m/33km and 2559 vertical ft/780hm, I crossed the finish line with a time of 1:57h - in 2nd place!
On the track, one guy fell in front of my bike and another fell into it - I assume with the intention of tearing the clothes off my body?!!?

Because once I got to the finish line, I could have sold my outfit to the highest bidder (Ron ...?????), who almost started bawling when he found out it's just for team members!
Nourishment that's purely Bavarian: ERDINGER BEER! Yup, those north of Mains should watch and learn.....
Oh yeah, the icing on the cake after all the work - a local massage parlor had set up a tent, where I got massaged back to health for free. I couldn't miss that!
... I'll be back.

Greetings, Claudia
