The time was right... the two blondes could not be dissuaded;
they wanted to go out to sea.... Captain Stedebeker had no choice
but let his pirate daughter Désiré (10 years old) and his godchild
Maleen (11 years old) loose on the racing world in Sundern at
the Megasport Mountainbike in their Pirate outfits. The comment
that Captain Stedebeker was more nervous as a coach than he
ever was at his own races, is superfluous......
The weather in Sundern/Cowshitthaven was pretty sucky. First
it rained, then it started to hail and in the end it even snowed.
The two Pirate kids were amazed when they had to find their
way in the midst of 1000 other riders in the "rider camp".
Their respect was huge and their excitement grew to immeasurable
heights...
The starting formation for the children's race was a little
chaotic at first and the "bitching" amongst the adversaries
was just like amongst the grown-ups. The parents that had no
idea what they were doing and were trying to get their kids
into the first row by all means possible, were especially annoying.
However, since old Stedebeker had prepared his two debutantes
well, the Captain was not forced to interfere at this point...
;-)
The staring shot was fired and Désiré and Maleen immediately
began defending their top ranks, which went pretty well. Stedebeker's
Désiré was only forced to surrender to the two local matadors
and came in 3rd in the local learner championship, after an
exciting race. She was the fastest nonresident. Everything was
a little bit more difficult for godchild Maleen.... She lay
down in the meadow a while during the second lap of the race,
after a great start... After a brief phase of disorientation,
she went off the track, boke through the track barrier and overturned
on her bike. She was fine, thank God, but Maleen's reaction
after the fall baffled the spectators. She was fed up, left
her bike lyinginthe meadow and made her way to the finish line
on foot....
After a warming tee, a large fries/hot dog/mayo everything was
good again and the "race discussions" of the two new
Pirates were just like those of the "grown-ups"....
I'm certain that there are two real, new Pirates in the mountainbike
scene and that we will here from them again soon.......
Ahoy, yours
Stedebeker
