At this time a series of thefts has been taking place in Saxony
that screams to high heaven, so we put a campaign into action.
We were victims ourselves at the beginning of December (5 crossers).
Furthermore, 3 other crossers were also stolen in December,
that I know of. In January (which is only half over…) 7!!! Crossers
(worth over 33000,-€).
It's sad and makes us really angry. I was lacking the possibility
of contacting a lot of people when my bike was first stolen.
Temporarily, I tried to do it over my own homepage (Fotocross.net)
and have already received 6 other entries about stolen bikes!!!
However, we had a great idea, we want to set up a homepage exclusively
for the announcement of stolen bikes, together with René Dahms
from Sachsenbike (web and design), that will be linked to as
many salespeople as possible and will be known in the MX/FMX/Enduro/SX/Supermoto
scene, etc..
It will cost a lot of money and we started a campaign at the
exhibition in Dresden to collect some tidbits from the dealers
there and auction them off. Together with our first sponsor
(Frechs MX World) we got the money for the first year and the
page will be going up in the next two, three days. Our baby
has a name: http://www.geklautemotorraeder.de
. . Here everybody that has been affected can put their bike,
including a photograph, online for free. We're going to try
to link our site with as many others as possible and in return
of course these sites will appear in our list of links. Whoever
is interested in being a sponsor (the next few years aren't
ensured), will receive a banner, like the one on the X-Park
site. It is a small beginning in the fight against these people.
Maybe we'll succeed in sensitizing some of the crossers and
bikers towards this issue, so that they'll be careful and watch
out that they don't buy stolen bikes! Even if the offers are
hard to resist.
Also, there are so many controls and technical inspections at
the races and events… maybe a frame number control could be
implemented. Wouldn't that be a step in the right direction?!
It is my request that you help me make this site as well known
as possible! Something has to be done to stop these bike thieves!!!
(Many would like to dispose of them like in the Middle Ages
;-) ).I would be so pleased, if everyone helped out, including
all the others whose babies were stolen!
Many thanks and greetings,
Nannette
