1st Game Day of the DPL (German Paintball League)

On June 17, 2007, the day had finally come.
The DPL season began for Fast 'n Deadly. Obviously our goal is to reach the final. By the way, this could also be our chance to advance to the 2nd Federal League. The League is our absolute priority this year. We arrived the day before to check out the field and work out a game plan for the next day. After everyone took their individual notes we discussed the best possible strategy and field formation that evening in the hotel.
The results were two game plans that had definite potential.

The next morning, even a blind man could detect:
a fit and well rested troop in the parking lot (and on time!!), bristling with the will to win...

Once on the field, the preparations began immediately. The markers (affectionately called "moppeds") were inspected, the paint was tested and all the players got changed and warmed up together.

When Fast 'n Deadly were finally called up for the first game of the day, I started getting a little queasy.
The final dress rehearsal last weekend had ended in disaster.
But, just like in show business, my fear ended up being completely unwarrented. All 5 players (this time Hirsel, Basti, Arsch, Steffen and Maddin were in the lineup), each one of us wearing a different shirt from the elite tailor PIRATE over our jerseys, let it rip as if they were being chased by the ship's kobold.
The results were two clear victories in the first two games.

Next we were up against our most feared opponent. A bunch of friendly southerners that we have never been able to beat.
However, what could have been anticipated after the first two games happened. We were finally able to achieve a clean win against the boys from Stuttgart. All of our players were completely concentrated, full of enthusiasm and communication was great all day long. Everything worked out. We won all of our games, except for a draw against the local team. We ended the day in hard-earned 1st place.

All in all, it was a perfect day of paintball in nice weather with awesome support (a great big thank you to Michi, Daniel and Chris), a great atmosphere among all the participating teams and very fair games.

Part 1 of Mission "Final" has been completed successfully. There's more to come...
