Sprint Triathlon in Großweier on June 25, 2006

Better late than never... it was a while ago, but it was definitely worth the report and my participation - the sprint triathlon in the pretty village Großweier near Achern! Early in the morning at t 6:30am we began our 75m/120km trip in the direction of the Black Forest. The weather and the mood was excellent and so we happily began setting up the transition area....

…after that, I went right to the starting line for the swimming in the extremely clean Lake Achern.

The lake was unbelievably clear, making it easy to navigate under water, which was great for a mediocre swimmer such as myself and I was able to find my way around the 820yd/750m long triangle course.
So I got out of the water pretty quickly and began the 15.5m/25km bike ride well motivated.
The track was invariably flat and so all there was, was the "pushing" against the wind (ugh...). Then, just a quick (well, kiinda...) change into my running shoes and a hardcore 3m/5km run in 95°F/35°C heat. Thank God most of it went through the shady forest.
When I finally crossed the finish line, I was happy that it had gone so well and was looking forward to a cold shower!

In the end, I was 2nd in my age division and the prizes are always sweet at this event!

C ya next year….!
Anchors away!
