4/29/07, the two Pirates Daniel from Bielefeld and Mike from
Rheine decided to take part in the Hermannslauf 2007. The
foot race went from the Hermanns memorial in Detmold to the
Sparrenburg (castle) in Bielefeld.
19.3 long miles (31km) and about 1969 vertical ft/600hm lay
in front of us on Sunday. Unfortunately, we couldn't start
together, because we were divided up into different blocks
that started at different times. The track along the Hermann
should not be underestimated and could be compared to a marathon,
due to the altitude. It was a dusty adventure for us, because
of all the dry days preceding the race, but we didn't let
on to the torture we were experiencing and just kept smiling,
like true Pirates.
Two Pirates meet at the Hermann.
Well sorted bundles of clothes.
A big crowd at the Hermannslauf.
There were 7000 "lunatics" at the starting line.
Here are our times and rankings:
Mike Sonntag 2:44:04h, 1306th place overall, 364th place in
age division 40
Daniel Flöttmann 3:05:44h, 2981st place overall, 742nd in
age division 40
Greetings, Mike and Daniel
