Cross country run in Worpswede at the 27th february 2011

Cross country run on Sunday…up and downhill…right thru the wondeful artiste village(KÜNSTLERDORF) of Worpswede near Bremen.

The start was on the top of the mountain, the Weyerberg, almost 5000 (cm) high, and so the highest point in the nearer environment. Up here you got a cold and fierce wind with drizzle, but at least the temperatures had a plus, but only with one digit. Because of this circumstances, the run wasn´t overcrowded, only 55runners altogether.

For the longest distance of 10km you had to run 3 rounds, passing local places of interests, like the „ stone of Lower-Saxony“, the KÄSEGLOCKE ( museum of arts and crafts and also a historic monument ),and the cafe „crazy“, and as well you ran about 150m of altitude.

Maren ran with the fastest and was able to defend her 3rd place at the womens race and also was able to pass lots of men as well.

Myself, I twisted with my left feet right in the middle of the second round, and wasn´t able to run anymore for several moments, so I lost much time at the end.

After three rounds of sightseeing, you could ran downhill towards the finish line, so I was able to gain some seconds again.

What about Maren? All lost, allout of sight, no one to see right behind her…

Finally the finisher picture, with the finisher medal.

After the picture, fastly back inside into the warm. Special thanks to my sister Kirsten for the pictures, she reached the 5th in her age-group on the middle distance.

Our results:
Maren 2nd place age-group and 3rd an the womens race, from 11starters, with a time of 51:54min
Reiner 5th place age-group and 16th an the men´s race, from 44starters, with a time of 47:57min

Lots of greetings

Reiner&Maren
