Singletrail-paradise in the  region of Limburg – Raphaela in the Netherlands

Because of an inrury of my knee, while I was  fooling around instead of exercising and to prepare my season, I didn´t went with my girls in the week before the Easter weekend for an exercise camp in the Black Forest, instead of going there I went...yes? Where did I went??? Just in case I packed some running stuff as well, besides my bike stuff. It was the right choice, because the region around Limburg got mountains, or well at least small hills, and not the bumps. Here you see, what the Dutch think about these speed limit.. Sadly, I didn´t have a skull sticker with me on my bike. Damn it. I should really look over all the stuff in the bike bag. I was really surprised about the few times I sat on my bike about the region. It was most of time: raining, stormy and sometimes snowing, yes, snowing. I only wore my running shoe one time, to get me some rolls. But you had here some forest and dunes and as well some meters of altitude, not like in the Sauerland or Halden, but at least some. And sometimes you were able to find a way in the forest who is halfway a XC.course. Root passages, small bumps, sandy paths and some also covered with mussels, changed itself with regular bike ways, which are standard in the contry of bicycle´s, which made fun riding it, even when they ended up again after 800-1200m. But like this, it wasn´t boring, while you ride slower than a snail. By riding a MTB, you soon get the frontiers of having fun by riding in the Netherlands. I think it´s better to have a roadbike here, but sadly I don´t own one yet. It is a flat country, but the region is worth travelling. Right between Venlo and Roermunf, ech toen only 15km away, it is good place to travel for  the “ Potties” and hilly “ people of the Sauerland”. On my excourses, I passed asparagous fields, cherry and apple plantations and I always had to fought against the wind right along the river Maas, and sometimes, in the evening, you could see the sun getting thru the clouds. A wonderful „hokiness“ picture, very romantic. In the backlight you can see the Pirate badge and some skulls, which I got on 5 spots on my bike… My goal was to get some pictures of typical Dutch things, but of course with a skull, I was able to get it,one time. But I rode also in short/short under a brifght sunny sky. YES... When a woman is all alone on a journey, it is hard to get a picture. But I´m looking forward to get some more pictures in the future. Wait, I still got one, a small gimmick, sadly without a skull, but at least....PIRATE... Having said this: AHOY, clear to enter. I wish all Pirates a wonderful and successful season of 2012   2012!
