Guido and Tanja at a 2h race in Wetter at the 23.06.2012

At the 23.06.2012 we were registered fort he 2h race in Wetter and met there the two Pirated Wencke and Raphaela. Wencke was a local and was a member of the organization team and also a track attendant and told us, that we should place our changing bottles at her location. Very nice of her. Raphaela was also registered for the race and we met us before to get to know the course.

Raphaela had some problems with her brake, but we found a mechanic who could help her. Than we wnet on to explore the course.

They offered us a really ambitious course: a good mixture out of marathon parts with top speeps (52km/h myself) and really cross country parts with hard ascents and claiming downhill parts. A nice Flow-Trail, with some downhill root sections, we also rode over parts of the former German Championship course.
POintly at 12:30o´clock was the start for the race that should last 2h with just one demand, not to pass the leading motorbike. Now, after the race I know, that it´s not really good for myself to start from far behind. Even while the beginning of the course was really wide, it came to jams throughout the start. After the 2nd round it became better. The race went by without any problems. I had lots of fun and were able to push my pedals really good and hard and also were able to ride up to the front.

When I was approximately on the 20-25th place, I burst, sadly…I forgot to ate on time, and also forgot to pack myself some gels in the pocket of my jersey. My plan to get to front was over, I was passed again by everyone I passed before, than an old fellow stopped by my side and offered to ride with me. And than some more of fairness in our sport, he offered me something to eat bars and gels, and also asked me if I wanted something to drink. I was reminded of the Tour de France, when Ulle and Armstrong waited for each other everytime, when one of them crashed or something bad happened. I inhaled the gel, likea Zombie meat and after 1o minutes I was able to ride again and than it was finally over after 2:00:46h I crossed the finish line on the overall33rd place and in my age-group it was the 10th. But anyhow, the results were nothing to the fact of real sport spirit. Thank you. If it´s a broken brake or just when you burst….Thank you…
I was really proud of Tanja. When we explored the course she pushed her bike over the root passage and told me that she would do it suring the race as well. She started also like Raphaela from far behind, and told me that she really was impressed of the sight, when the field lines up like a chain. Than she found the race fun and forget to get off  her bike at the roots, and afterwards she thought, that it wasn´t that bad, and so, she rode over it, each round. AHe reached the finish after 2:34h,she rode 4 rounds and solve over 1073m of altitude. Finally she ended up on the 8th place overall and 4th in her age-group.
