Mornin'
Everyone, Its been a few days now since we've reported from
Cape Epic, but we hit the finish line to late and havent had
a secure network to report to you from. Our media-bag with
laptop was also lost in the maddness. Any way now back to
the first three stages....
The short ride from Prolog wasnt really enough, we needed
more to for a race, so we somewhat messed up the first stage.
Somehow we just tapped around the first kilometer to feel
it out. As the run for this stage did become better we put
down quite a finale so that we wernt rewarded with red lanters.
Stage 2.
This was supposed to be the Hammer: 140km and 3000hm after
100km warming phase, this we could do no prob. - at 30°C
from the top- a hammer of a mountain with 16% incline pushing
800hm. At this point we already strained our front suspension,
to the point that they were making noises so loud and unbearable
that even the last Zebra ran as if it were making an escape,
and Franks seat , just like my brakes quickly became the victim
of dust and dirt. The circumstances were interesteing but
in despite of all this me and my first mate rode fourth in
full seeknots.
At the peak of the mountain the poor guys face started turning
a really white color but I was sure I could get him to the
finish line. At that point Frank was able to get a good ice
pack and ended up in good company at the Medical-Center, where
somehow it seemed like there was just dead bodies laying around.
Either they must have been dehydrated or also attempted to
ride a 16% incline for a unlucky attempt to get in touch with
mother nature. OUch.
Stage 3.
Captain ZimbO was really happy to hear from Frank this morining
Roadworthy and ready to go. In the mean time I didnt think
he was gunna make it, but this guy is hard core, and has the
same goal in his eyes. So we took it easy today, after the
last oasis. My priorities became clear- if Frank was able
to recoverf we could be really happy, and that we made it
through in one piece was great too.
Alright thats it for today.
Well lets see what tomorrow holds for us and how Frank recovers.
Somehow we are gunna make it through.
