A race at home on Cape Verde

Cycling is a hobby that can take up a lot of your time, but I'm sure you already knew that.
With a job and a family, it's not always easy to cover all the bases, especially if you happen to have another hobby, like a band, which can also take up a lot of time.
Thus, I alternate between training and band practice. Luckily my significant other goes along for the ride and has understanding for my obsessions J
A 2-week vacation, SANS bike, is the reward. Promise! I don't mind, since I'm so totally ready for a vacation and a little break would do me quite nicely.
Also, being half-Cape-Verdian, it's about time I payed another visit to the islands. This time we'll be on Sal, to be exact.

After a long, hard day on the deck chair, sitting on the terrace and letting the ocean breeze blow up your nose, is kinda relaxing - yup, I gotta admit, that's pretty sweet…

Okay, no bike. That's all right. Running will do in an emergency. Unfortunately, I was a little overzealous: started off with a 2-hour run on the beach. Endurance wasn't the problem. Unfortunately, I had forgotten how badly the sand affects our coddled, running-shoe-wearing, European feet. A couple of nasty blisters developed on my chafed, sandy feet… Oh well, all was well 2 days later. I chose to unpack my running shoes for the rest of the vacation - that would be better.

Zero athletic activity, was obviously out of the question. Gotta stay in shape - or, at least, keep what was left of it.

It doesn't have anything to do with the team, I just think it looks nice. By the way, the local Club Pirata is a dance club.

Unfortunately, the 2 weeks were over way to soon and before we knew it, we were back at the airport, sitting elbow-to-elbow. Shame, shame… I'm pretty sure that I could have survived another week…!

Greetings from Sal,

Bianca & Amilcar
