After participating at the 2007 World Championships, I got
the chance to participate again in Hamburg over the Olympic
disctance on the 26.07.2009 at the Dextro Energy Triathlon
ITU World Championships. The contest runned perfectly and
made unbelievible lots of fun:
One after another the starting groups jumped into the waters
for „bathing“.
Swimming was quite difficult, bacause the Alster waters, were
very muddy and unclear, and under the bridges(3) it was almost
pitch black, so you swan like in a dark room...
After I came out of the waters, I started to take off my wet
suit for not to loose too much time in the transition area….
The cycling shoes are tighten at the pedals of my bike and
I started to pull them on after a few meters on the bike.
The 40km were almost flat but very windy and because of that
not very easy to ride.
After the bike part, the shoes stayed with the bike on the
pedals, so you run barefeet thru the transition area…
On the run course, over the 10km, everything went good and
I had no break down…
From over 2691 participants over the Olympic distance I finished
31th overall and I reached the 8th place in my age group from
about 535 ( My times: 26min swim, 1h bike, 40min run)
On Sunday I will start at the triathlon in Regensburg!
Thank you and many greetings,
Daniel
