It was fast and there were hardly any jumps. A hurricane had
made parts of the old descent unmanageable and so they had
to come up with something new, fast. Friday, a lot of bikers
said that the track was boring and low standard, but it got
more difficult the faster you went. Open turns, extremely
wavy terrain and brake holes made it hard to keep up speed.
Also, a few of the guys took the old track back out of habit,
even though the warning tape was impossible to overlook.Since
the wooden ramp at the finish wasn't there this year, we had
to drop anker going full speed at the end of the last incline.
I had a very relaxing descent during the race, because I said
adios to my chain halfway down and I didn't have to pedal.
I was able to ponder the problem I had over some beer and
bratwurst. Two races and two defects… coincidence??? Let's
see what happens at Bad Wildbad.
