It was my first cross race on my mountain bike in the everyman division. Having registered late, I found myself in the unfamiliar last row of starters.

Madness… but then we were off and I sped after the c. 35 other bikers.

The 0.8m/1,4km lap through garden plots, over two hurdles, up and down steps and over cobblestones (start and finish) took us around the monastery in the historical city center of Lorsch.

After four fun-filled laps, I finished in 14th place after 21:44min, with a lag of 01:29min.
