The Lucas Trophy of the company TRW took place this weekend
at the Nürburgring for the 18th time. 700 starters from various
car companies (Mercedes, Opel, Ford, Porsche, etc.) participated.
We were there for the 2nd time and it was like "Green Hell"
again. The weather was showing its good side and we could
ride to the limit. There were downhill rides that went up
to 61mph/98km/H. Daniel! You hero! But for many the Lucas
Trophy was the tour of suffering!
The track routing said it all. Struggle til you drop. A couple
of nice ascents with 16%!
Team Cologne including backup and members of the Just Fit1.
4..3..2..1 The countdown begins and we're ready to go. Like
every year, some of the big car companies bought some A +
B licensed riders!
The starter field is already torn wide apart, when I take
a short break after the first ascent. A Pirate lies nestled
aerodynamically to his bike, eyes shut, just letting it roll!
A bunch of suckers on my back tire. Typical! :-) We're used
to it……..
Exhausted, but happy! As always, Achim gave it his all and
was rewarded with the white jersey for the best young professional
(He had to wait 40 years for that.).
Conclusion: it was fun as always. Placing was okay too (59th/83rd/119th
place, etc.) and the starter fee will be donated to a good
cause.
The 4th round at the bar was clearly on us!
Cheers! Pulli
