The Last Day of League Play
On Sunday August 7th 2005, in Kellenbach as always, it was all or nothing. It was the last day of league play, the day that would determine whether or not we would make it to the German Final, the day on which only two of us have time to play... wait a minute, WHAT?

August 2005

Hey landlubbers,
this is the story of two BSN-Pirates, ever crazy "Mady" and Pirate Captain "Ubi Blutsventje", that made their way to Thaleischweiler-Fröschen in Palatinate on August 6th. Mady was there to strike fear into people's hearts at "Sleepless in the Saddle" and I was there to (get naked) and strike fear into people's heart at the "German Singlespeed Championship"...

Giro Dolomiti 07/31-08/06/2005
Today I got back from the 29th Giro Dolomiti in Bozen, Italy, which I had participated in with three other guys from Freiburg. All in all, there were 6 legs of about 435m/700km and 39370 vertical ft/12000hm for us to overcome. Every day there was a mountain time trial with ramps up to 18%.

Hello dear community of blessed bike excursionists,
apparently these crazy psychos that inflict multiple 24h races on themselves exist. However, no one could resist the location, it made my fingers twitch!

July 2005

At the DH race in Ritterhausen a freerider would have been completely sufficient. Next year I'll pack one to be on the safe side. After the starting line, which was at a meadow incline, the track went over a jump that has been higher in past years, in my opinion. After that we there was an unimpressive part of forest and then we got back to the meadow. Now it was time to pedal and uphill no less.

2nd Pit Bike Enduro Harry Kloss Automobile Recycling in Oststeinbek/Hamburg on 07/30/2005.
At 2:04pm Marco Heinrich started the 4h race under bad conditions. Right before the start it had rained again quite heavily. The crew around Marco had pumped out the biggest of the water holes with an old THW pump. 15 bikers accepted the challenge. The track was outfitted with various special. So, for example, one had to ride through an old Renault Traffic.

BMX WM 2005 in Paris Bercy (short report)
......right after Bremen I remembered that ….I left my camera on my desk.....But who cares, I didn't have an official assignment for the BSN or anything…. So "just fo fun", off to Paris for the BMX World Championship.

Hello - take one!
The first part of this mega newsletter includes a short review of the 1st Alpina-Bikeweekend in Bikepark Bischofsmais. Fun guys from the optics industry got together from the 15th to the 17th of July to practice "seeing ahead"… and, of course, to bike and work on their riding technique.

July 2005

For the second time this season...
I rode the short distance - Bad Wildbad advertised a lot of trails and a good, old track. Well, I started out with my new vehicle in a great mood and first we went 1312 vertical ft/400hm up into the Black Forrest and trails were nowhere to be seen.

July 2005

Does a hotter trainer than Maxi exist?????
I think not, but if someone is of the opinion that there is, feel free to send me some pics as proof.

Pirates searching for prey in Swabia............
On July 3rd the time had come again: everything was on the line! The victory in the overall rating of the single and double races of the German cup of the SG Stern Germany!

July 2005

Pirate-Spinners don't just do well in the studio…
After 23m/37km in 3.5h and 6561.6 vertical ft/2000hm we arrived on Großglockner Street at 8215.2 ft/2504 m.

6th Indoor Cycling Marathon in Münster
With the friendly support of Tomahawk Indoor Cycling and the Pirates from Hamburg the 6th Indoor Cycling Marathon in Münster will take place on Saturday the 19th of November 2005 , in the sports park Roxel. Among the top presenters the following will be there: Tom Nürnberg (Saak), Hardy Garski, Simone Nürnberg, Stefanie Frankenbusch, Carsten Bäumker, to name a few... The starting shot for this 5 hour event will be fired by Tom Nürnberg around 1pm.

Great --- f..... up carbon helmet
That started out fantastically! The German Championship in Bischofsmais is awesome, I thought to myself. The have a lift so you don't have to push all the way to the top. So far so good. On Thursday I took advantage of the nice weather and looked for a good route. Luckily, since the forcast for Friday was rain all day long. But funnily enough we could ride the same route as on the day before and barely any bikers got lost on the course.

July 2005

Pirates on the way……………
After forcing ourselves out of our berths at 5 o'clock in the morning on Sunday, we hoisted our sails in the direction of the south on the A7 autobahn. We stopped for a marathon at the height of Kassel. It started at 9am, so we had enough time for an easy warm up. At exactly 9 o'clock the peleton was on its way uphill over slippery, enrooted forest trails and wet meadows.

A cool article in "Radsport"
the team organ of the League of German Cycling.
On one whole page "handicapped cycling" and the success of our new team mebers is discussed.
Take a look....

Winter Triathlon in Bad Tölz
The lake was so cold at 54°F/12°C (air 64°F/18°C) that the distance was shortened to 0.6m/1km. Everyone was grateful when they could leave the water again. The reward was a sexy bike track, where constant ascents and descents prevent pedalling evenly.

Pirate goes Triathlon and Svenja goes Iron(wo)man
The preparation triathlon competitions for the Ironman in Zurich are over and the new Pirate-Triathlon-Collection has proved its worth!!! 2 good events for me and great clothes from Ron!! The tri-outfits are really awesome and totally cool, thanks Ron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Conviction in Plettenberg!
After the fractionalism around the remake of the Mega P-Weg Marathon Weekend 2005 in Plettenberg, the "preventors" have been convicted!
Within the framework of the fair of the Plettenberg marksmen community, the beer-court of the "Hegeringsvorsitzende" (the hunting director) convicted Robert L. on the stage of the high court on Monday, with the help of two bsn - Pirates.
He and his hunting colleagues had vehemently fought against the second edition of the P-Weg Marathon Weekend in these past few months.

Triathlon with obstacles........or whatdo you call a triathlon without swimming.....?!
Since I wanted to test my new time trial and triathlon bike in a competition before the upcoming weekend, I thought a sprint triathlon a week before hand is exactly what I need!

06/19/05 Knax Race at the Kiel-Week-Races.
Domenic Karrasch came in 3rd place (age group 98-99), after rolling up the field from 30th position.

The trip was undertaken with the proud dad's new team bus.

oh yeah right, the black forest ultra...
report: with the ultra long marathon, 72m/116km, came the ultra-long journey to the marathon... we went through stuttgart did a little sightseeing, tübingen too. this was not voluntary. apparently my boyfriend was not able to read the map all to well, due to my driving skills. i would get nauseous riding shotgun with myself too...

Bilstein Bike Marathon Großalmerode
Three in the same boat... that was our motto. After we had decided to capture more than one event on this worthy weekend, we immediately tossed our grapling hooks. While some infiltrated the 24 hour race in Munich, others went to the European Championship in Framersbach and we were off to the Dutch Käs-Kopp Championship in Großalmerode.

June 2005

You wouldn't think that 24 hours are 86400 seconds...
and who had the moronic idea to participate in 24 hour race in Munich soon became evident.....
Thomas will be stranded on the next island that we sail past!!!!

BONN TRIATHLON – a hot race and a crash
Last Sunday Sveny, as a single starter, and the Captain, on the relay team with the Dolphins Angelika and Christoph Clausing, participated in the 19th Bonn Triathlon under midsummer weather conditions. We had to swim in the Rhein for 2.5m/4km, ride bikes for 37m/60km and run for 9m/15km.

Kirchzarten Ultra Bike Marathon 06/19/2005
It was hot, very hot and the sun burned my salty skin. I have never before looked death in the eye as clearly as I did last weekend...

Friedrichsbrunn and the National Association Championship in Clausthal-Zellerfeld
On Saturday Friedrichsbrunn in the East Harz was initially only supposed to be preload. But everything turned out differently. During the first lap I got a snakebite. My extra hose was flat just a little while later, so I rode 6m/10km until the lap was over with a flat front tire. When I got there I needed two more hoses until, after 15min of dawdling, I could finally ride on.

Herdecker City-Run
On Sunday Mike participated in the Herdecker City-Run. First in the 3m/5km run and then in the 6m/10km run. In the 3m/5km he came in 3rd in the age division 40 in 20:20, in the 6m/10km he ended up in 8th in 42min. in the same division.
The track is a 1.55m/2.5km lap with 4 hefty ascents...
Greetings, Mike

Hey Pirates,
a girl on a speedway is rare. A girl on a speedway in Pirate gear is unique. The girls name is Jessica Bilgenroth. She is 24 years old and rides speedway.

ADHM Cross Country 2005 in Bayreuth!!!
This weekend two other students from Freiburg and I undertook the 230m/450km ride to Bayreuth, because that is where the German University Championship for MTB CrossCountry was to take place. In order to become the German champ, one had to pedal in the Cross Campus race on Friday and in the CC race on Saturday.

Altenau… three gold medals for Pirate.
...Altenau 2005, it's time to see that order is restored to the native region. So we were off to teach others what fear is. Jörg Hüter, Melina Sen, Liv Susanne Bachmann, Mark Slaby and myself, Steffen Kempendorf were part of the crew.

Hey... great article in the BSN !!

The smallest and most successful Pirate...
is, at the time, definitely Luk Ackermann on his pitbike. Once again he outshone all the experienced adult crossers at the show race on the occasion of the Louis Summer Party.

Good morning Pirates of all the world's oceans
The 2nd start-up of the Plettenberg race www.p-weg.de seems far off on the horizon. But hurry up. 85% of the positions are already given out. There's only room left for 150 people.

Then the cog is full.

May 2005

Hey, because the weather has started getting nicer and nicer we decided to report back with a few pics of us in training.
The last practice before the league took place on Saturday May 7th, everyone was looking forward to an awesome day with sunshine and outdoor paintball on the Red Baron Field in Griesheim/Darmstadt.
Unfortunately, rain thwarted all of our plans for outside and we were forced to migrate to the Paintballparadise/Babenhausen, which is in a gym.

24h race in Kehlheim
5 persons at the most per team, 10.5m/17km per lap and all you have to do then is pedal until you collapse.
The people from left to right: Dantl Bernd, Bremicker Kai, Spießl Bernhard, Berger Tom, in front Hacklsberger Markus. Info about this race at www.race24.de
It's a kick ass time!!!!!!!!!!
Of course we're gonna be there this year, with a small change in personnel.
Greetings, Kai

BMX training camp in Kolbenmoor
Winter break is finally over for the BMX bikers and I hardly have the time to write it all down. But I'll do my best. Like every year the season began with a one wekk training camp in Kolbermoor over Easter. The first BMX race, "the Kawasaki Cup", is already planned in order to wake everyone out of their hibernation.

Global Gutz...well a courier race
From April 30th to May 1st, a 13m/21km alleycat took place in various cities worldwide. This happened for the first time in 2000 and the major award is a plane ticket for the male and female winners east of Greenwich and those west of Greenwich, to the courier world championship.

Amstel Gold Race with the Dutch folk…
Amstel Gold Race, it's not just big in Holland! But they sure do love it...!
So, we thought we'd check it out! After a good and thorough brunch we met in Vaals, in order to ride to the course together! Of course, the weather was shitty! Foggy, damp, slick streets and definitely near freezing... fantastic...!!

The direction is correct…
On Saturday at 11am we arrive at the forest inn, in some little podunk village in the Kellerwald. The beds haven't been made yet. Whatever, we throw the bags inside, put on our biking clothes and are off to the course.

On the podium at the 5th Rheinenergie Marathon in Bonn …One week later than in years past the 5th Bonn-Marathon took place on the 2nd weekend in April, in typically cold and damp April weather. The preparation actually went well. We stuck to the training schedule pretty consequently and so expectations were high, that we would be able to run the 26.218m/42,195km in under 3h for the first time.

April 2005

We just got back from Kirchenhausen from the SOG Forestman marathon. I came in 3rd overall!!! Out of about 400 participants. 36m/58km, 4265 vertical ft/1300hm. Time: 2:04?? hours. In our team I came in 2nd together with Matze.

A round trip of Flanders for "Wheeler-tourists"
The Flanders round trip is came around again and about 14 000 bikers from Belgium and the rest of the world came to Merbeke to experience the last real adventure in cycling. After taking a break for a year there was noway that I would miss riding my racing bike over the harshest ascents paved very badly with the world's worst cobble stones.

I'm behind the guy in red!
This weekend the MTB season 2005 finally started for me too. In Goseck by Weißenfels I raced for the Mid-german Cup. After a few problems with the navigation the village was found. The course (2 laps of 7.5m/12km) had all you could wish for. Singletrails, fast descents, steep ramps.

03/13/05, it is 8 o'clock in the morning and our ship "Air Berlin" brought us ashore safely. Our feet had barely touched solid ground before we were off again, towards the north, in order to relieve Sveny and Jörn on guard duty at our base camp in Alcudia .

Mornin' landlubbers! Dear wedding guests! Questions about questions??? Freshly in love and just married, I stood at the airport in Palma de Mallorca on Sunday March 20th at 6:10am with my bride "Terrace-Philipp"… we hopped into a taxi and made our way to the hotel as fast as possible. Right into bed with my "honey buns", I thought…

The first marathon on skis:
on February 6, in the morning, it was ice cold, cloudy and windy on the way from Toblach to Cortina. Suddenly I found myself in the third of four starting blocks, between tense racers, that were nervously sliding back and forth on their skis, trying not to freeze solid.

March belongs to the Pirates,
at least the largest of the Baleary Islands, Mallorca, belongs to the Pirates this March. At the beginning of March Sveny and Captain Klotz (Jörn) were the first to enter the northern side of the island! On March 13 Nina and her crew came to take over and this week Ubi Blutsventje and Terrace-Philipp are here on their "honeymoon". However they are on the south side of the island! Oh well, the island is - yeah!!!!
