It's been a long time since there has been any news from Bonsai,
but here's a whole load of it! Thanks to the god of weather, who
bestowed a few more summery days on us, we had two more riding technique
courses in the Nürnberg Steinbrüchlein. While a "classic" course

SU and tips and tricks were given for riding in sections, back tire
jumping/shifting and Northshore trials for fun, to all those interested

It's kind of unfortunate that some organizers have no idea about

Pirates,
on Sunday I rode in my first race of the year. However, I quit after
half of the distance.
It wasn't my day or my race :-(

I
saw a lot of Pirates...
but only in the party tent. On the track: negative report! I guess
it was a little bit to cold for the gang from Plettenberg. So, it
was up to the old farts to make the best of it.
It is well known that you can go a little faster when there isn't
any snow on the ground, and there was no snow...

1, Labor Day and the Bavarian Championship in Erlangen
Last weekend. in beautiful but cold and windy weather, the Bavarian
BMX Championship took place in Erlangen. Since it was our first
race of the season, the tension was high. Steffi's strongest competitor,
Nadja Pries, was on her home turf and had had some training advantages,
because the track in Garmisch had been covered in snow for so long.

Sprint-Triathlon
in Munich
The swimming took place in the Olympia pool, 1312ft/400m, in 10sec
intervals.
Maybe that's why there weren't any slipstream issues during the
12m/20km bike ride that followed and which consisted of 4 laps around
the Olympia Park.

Hey
landlubbers,
at the Bike-Marathon Garda Trentino the Ronda Granda and Extrema
went through 2in/5cm fresh snow. I was spared that and was allowed
to make my way down the descents, with freezing feet at a temperature
of 39°F/4° and fight my way into 16th place at the Ronda

Last
Sunday at the Hermanns Run
From the Hermanns Monument in Detmold to Bielefeld to the Sparren
Castle. This race is hardcore with 19m/31km and 1968.5 vertical
ft/600hm. Additionally there are 128 steps at mile 13/km 21. It
went well. I don't have the exact results yet. The time was 2:57h.
I took on the role of the "bunny" for an aquaintance during
this race and pulled her under 3h.

Pirate
spawn on the podium
The time was right... the two blondes could not be dissuaded; they
wanted to go out to sea.... Captain Stedebeker had no choice but
let his pirate daughter Désiré (10 years old) and his godchild Maleen
(11 years old) loose on the racing world in Sundern at the Megasport
Mountainbike in their Pirate outfits. The comment that Captain Stedebeker
was more nervous as a coach than he ever was at his own races, is
superfluous......

Hola,
hola,
after a start into the biking season that was so-so, due to the
weather, we took our bikes on an Easter Bunny hunt on April 15th!
... first, a four hour long martyrdaom had to be absolved, in the
form of a ride technique course. 5 people, who were undaunted by
death made their way there. Some of them had been there before (record
for Ralph: 4x, Gabi: 2x) and with "Forest Master" Tanja
Wittig an XC racer was among the group. Unfortunately, two people
had to move their appointments to the next time... that was the
starting formation.

On
Sunday April 23, the time had finally come.
The duathlon season of 2006 began for me with the Powerman-Holland.
This race was also evaluated as a Powerman European Championship.
While any soccer fan has to wash his mouth out with soap at the
mention of the word Holland, I can merely out myself as a Holland
and also Belgium fan. The starting shot was fired promptly at noon.
For 250 athletes this meant running for 9.3m/15km, cycling for 37m/60km
and then running again for 4.6m/7,5km (or as the Dutch would say:Loopen
- Fietsen - Loopen).

Hi
Ho
Finally, it has warmed up and we can get out of those smelly gyms!
Said and done: we went to the 2die4 Cup in Solms witha new team
formation, so that we could get the new team accustomed to each
other, have fun and get used to the great, wide (infinite?! oO )
outdoor fields in the open air again.

On
April 15 2006 the time had finally come.
The weather god was totally on our side. Radiant sunshine, 57°F/14°C,
a slight easterly wind. 19 riders found their way to Harry Kloss'
automobile recycling yard in Osteinbek. Two 1.5 hour enduros were
on our GPBA motto plan. This time some parts of the track seemed
like an Enduro World Championship for Big Bikes. (Marco's version
of the article about Easter Saturday.)

Suzuki
NIGHT of the JUMPs / IFMXF FIM World Championship Bremen, April
1/2 2006
The weekend in Bremen went quite well for me. Since it was a "Suzuki
NIGHT of the JUMPs / IFMXF FIM World Championship" event, there
were no prequalification rounds. So, I had to be content with participating
in the "Highest Air-Contest".

The BMX scene has awoken. After a long winter break and a cancelled
National Association Championship two weekends ago, we competed
in the first race of the Federal League in Erlangen with a new team,

Hola
everyone,
I'm back in the country and slowly but surely the sun is coming
out again, even in Germany - yipeeeeeee!! But LaPalma was pretty
sweet too at 77-86°F/25-30°, with a view from the terrace of the
nearby ocean. Single trails in the sunshine, black beaches and a
new jump slope that was built by downhill-cannon Daniel Schäfer
and others.

Hola
landlubbers,
After the first part oft the PIRATE Bikeweek La Palm/Gran Canaria
our adventure in island hopping began with a captured Binter-Canarias
machine on rollercoaster course over the open sea to Gran Canaria…
Once we arrived, my bride "Terrace-Philipp" and I were immediately
kidnapped by the marathon organizer Petra Wonisch and taken to the
"Sun-Radio" studio, where we gave our first live-radio interview…
bla, bla, bla, hardcore gravel track, a lot of Bitter Lemon and
we shall see who can keep his nose out front….

Of the four ramps that we had at our disposal, two stood at 66ft/20m
(26ft/8m radius), a 30ft/9m radius ramp at 72ft/22m and the kicker
with the funbox in front of it stood st 36ft/11m or so. The start-up
and breaked run were typically not exactly overly proportionally
designed, but didn't prove a problem. Florian

happen, I would have sold the tv rights to a daily soap. I'm sure
the ratings would have killed.

The
fear of Don Karrasch and the black gang, …….
Unfortunately, why unfortunately?? complete fear, pure heart pounding
in the pants of the islanders lead to the change in the date for
the marathon in Fuerteventura, from 02/25 to 02/18/06. Don Karrasch
has been the victor of this event twice already, the other victors
in all these years also didn't have Spanish names, which lead to
the sneaky tactic about the date!!

At this time a series of thefts has been taking place in Saxony
that screams to high heaven, so we put a campaign into action. We

Furthermore, 3 other crossers were also stolen in December, that
I know of. In January (which is only half over…) 7!!! Crossers (worth
over 33000,-€).
