Every year again, the Pirates from Plettenberg made their way
to Duisburg, to the industrial area-north. The is the hardest
and best MTB-race of whole NRW and just waited for some maniac
Pirates:
24h of Duisburg
We were splitted in mixed teams of eight and one single rider
( no one wanted him to join their team). Just arrived we built
up our camping area and made it safe against crossovers from
enemies. We had orignal barrier tape from the Interstate police
of Lüdenscheid. Finally we raised our PIRATE-FLAG, visible for
everyone, so that there be no misunderstandings with the other
teams.
Well,after we had eletric power...
for the refridgerators, filled with steaks and tasty liqiud
something filled with yeast. The refrdgerators were surrounded
soon by tents, like a Pirate rule said, first of all, the important
things…
After tall that happens, the head cook Benno, started his work
at the BBQ. For the musical ambience Pirate Schnuffi brought
his guitar and were accompanied by stamping foot.
For those, who didn´t know the lyrics, was the rule, just sing,
anything you got on your mind, but it should be in the official
PIRATE-Language – Engman(Denglish) – But after 11o`clock PM
you were allowed to sing without any consonants.
After we emptied both of the refridgerators, some of the Pirates
left the camping lot...
They played along, singed along on the festival lot until early
in the morning. As a salary they got paid by two blond girls
with Kümmerlings and liqiud yeast. At this moment, no one of
them thought about the upcoming quests of the next day, but
sometime later, they finally find the way back in their chambers.
10 hours and about 3 packets of asprin later, everything finally
started.
The bell from the tower just ringed for the first hour after
midday, when all the Pirates from the Monschau-Sauerland-Express
and of course Mallorca-Paule as a single rider, made their way
up this massacre.
Like expected after a few rounds all the poison from the night
before left their bodies on the sweat way, now only minerals
and carbohydrates find their way in the bodies of the Pirates
and were of course at this point vitally important.
We even got some high-tecnology stuff, like the I-Phone of Capt´n
Stede, which provided us with th lap-splits.
Every round were a fierce fight, and at the end of the day(24h)
the 8-mixed team had 71ounds and 489km on the schedule and a
5th place overall. Mallorca-Paule did a good job as well, he
finished the race with 317km, with only 3 brakes, each no longer
than 30minutes and reached a the finish line as 27th.overall.
For all Pirates and their friends was it a succesful weekend,
which had everythin a heart of a biker needs and make it beating
like a drum.
We like to say a special thank you to the organizer of this
event Pities for this excellent organization of this whole weekend
and before…
Greetings and with pleasant anticipation for the next year
your
Mallorca-Paule
