Yesterday it was the time – our first Night Rider was set,
but riding thru the darknest is nothing foreign for us, because
of Brevets, just finished with the 400k, 600k and 24h race
you get to know to ride within the dark. Anyhow, the circumstances
brought some new experiences: it was cold, wet and muddy –
all I learned from that is: you never can have enough lights.
The race started a little bit delayed at 16:15o´clock and
the Flauaus needed about two rounds to come near optimal temperature,
just in time before after a fast change to the Bader who rode
the next two rounds. We kept holding on with this changing
ceremony,as far as possible. Until we had some technical problems
after 3hours(the brake pad were down), we were forced to change
the wheels and after a further round we had to change the
lights. So, because of this little problems we weren´t the
fastest while chan ging anymore, but when I remeber, no one
was in hurry to get back on the course, becasue of the weather
conditions, temperatures around 4degrees, neverending rain,
mudy ground, fog and humid greenery made all this to a matter
of moral.
But all this got rewarded, we reached the 2nd place in our
age-group.
