I went, as the only female PIRATE, with a 8-headed female
team of my old home-club“Ski & Bike Deggendorf“ to the italian
Brenta-Dolomites for the 24h Val Rendena to defend the honor
of the Pirates. Just before the starting signal we knew, that
we had won the country-ranking because we were the only german
female team. Big smile. Only the podium place for overall
we had to fight for. Well, during the night, with no sleep,
ice-cold and constantly changing riders in a tact to ride
16min long sprints, we rode all the time between the 4th and
the 3rd place, when I thought about this, I got nuts….J
But now, one after all: Silence lay over the start…
...but than, the general italian hype, just before the starting
signal…
….Finally, the starting signal…and on we go !!!
Yeah...this rulez !!! Attack... JJJ
But with night fall, it gets harder and harder and the it
seems that the night got no end....
This is what you look like after 24h without sleep and constantly
16min sprints….crooked and crumpled…
But it was worth it….together with a colorful picked up team,
we, 8 chicks from the „Ski & Bike Team – Mamma Mia “ we finished
3rd place.
It was tough and exhausting…and I thought I ´ll never ever
do this again, but soon, I enjoyed the fun we had, and I hear
me saying „ YES “, when Ron will ask me, how about taking
part with an 8 Headed Female Pirate Team at the 24h of Duisburg
2010…I´m looking forward for that… :-)
Ciao...sunny Pirate-greetings from Bavaria,
your Renate
