Ist been a while and all the aftermath have diappeared and
decayed, but I still want you to tell the tale of my day-trip
to the wonderful lake from Zurich…
It happened on the 12th of july. DAY X, red crossed in my
calendar, my seasonal highpoint, the highest goal to reach
this year or simply the…IRONMAN SWITZERLAND 2009
Far al whole year I got goose skin, if I´ve even thought about
it, I bought myself a new bike, I fought the wind on Lanzarote,
I almost got webs and I spent a lot of mones in running shoes.
But afterall, all the preparations, were worth it and have
been lots of fun either….J
On we go to Swiss, arrival on Friday, so I were able to calm
down and to risk a look on the course and on the sports market.
On Saturday morning, I tested the water for his quality and
temperature of the swim course, after that I went right away
to the bike check-in.
For the bike check-in you needed a lot of patinece, because
every participator was pictured with his bike,by entering
and later by leaving the transition area, to avoid thievery
When I fixed my transition area, we ent right away back to
the hotel for carbo-loading. Actually I could slep well that
night, before my alarm clock rang to get me up at 3o`clock
in the morning. So, here it comes: Day X, 12th of july, even
faster than I thought Around 6 o´clock all the transition
area were crowded, like a beach at the Copa Cabana on a real
sunny summer day, with participants, friends, relatives, viewers,
spectators and reporter, everybody wanted to get to the swim
start. Thank god, we were fine with the weather and there
were no rain in sight, like the year before. So, I slowly
got me inside of my wet suit.
Than I went to the swim start, there were an extra starting
box, ust for the women, but I even caught up sight of some
men. The Pro´s started 10min before the age-group starters.
And „ KAPOW “ All came things came to a start. 2000 and more
started to swim on the 3.8km 2 rounded course with a short
walk on the beach.
After 1:10h I finsihed with the swim and went directly to
the transition area. Swimming went OK, almost no fights or
jostling, I just felt a litle bit dizzy afterwards.
On the bike course I was lucky about myself, because I brought
me arm warmers to the transition area on the last moment,
even the wind jacket was something like duty.
Everything went fine on the first round,,but it started to
rain during the first round, and on the 2nd the wind changed
his direction and the, you can say, hilly course, made the
rest for a good time slip on the bike course.
When I finally c got back to the transition area, I recognized,
that I went on a long walk with a few running passages in
between, because in the beginning of june while I´m doing
an olympic triathlon, I hurt my achillies tendom, and I did
not have the time to cure it. I noticed it when I sat on my
bike. On the day before I went to a healer on the market,
who said to me I should try 10:1, 10 minutes of running and
one on walking. Well, that´s easier said than done, I wasn´t
able to run more than 10min anyhow, because of the pain. So,
it went on, round for round. Special thanks for my supporters
for mtheir patience and help, who got me up a few times with
salt and their encouragement. J
On the last of 4 rounds to run, I finally found my rhythm
and it went like clockwork...
After 12:22h I reached very cheerful the finish. Allright,
I wanted to finish under 12h, but…I´m glad I were able to
start and to finish !!!
Here I present you my most expensieve shirt of my cupboard
J
Conclusion: It was fun and I´ve already booked Roth for next
year 2010… J
