On the 3rd of july 2010 was here in our Badener-country the „
Höllengrund-Marathon“ from the RSV-Kurpfalz Schwetzingen with
a course over 208km and about 2000m of altitude. I decided for
myself to bring it to end this time for sure, to improve my shape.
I didn´t arrive very early for the start, I travelled there by
bike from Hockenheim to Schwetzingen, registrate and talked a
bit and then started at 7:31AM on the 208km course criss-cross
thru the wonderful Odenwald.
It went quite well for me just from the beginning, it was hot
and humid and it looked like it would start to rain very shortly,
but luckily not...
The first ascents came and they became more and more and of course
more difficult to ride. My goal for today? I thought about 7h
with an average speed of 30km/h. I did the whole course alone,
some parts of the course I knew already of my very own training,
but I gotta say to you that I saw lots of beautiful corners I
haven´t seen before.
We had ascents of more than 15% and I rode them with my standard
conversion of 39/53 and 11-23. Don´t care about it, it just brings
hardness and shape, after all we´re Pirates.
Finally, it was a felicitous course and a wondeful scenery with
a nice profile, we had very friendly staff at the course and ist
a bike-marathon worth riding it, in the Kurpfalz, you never should
misprize, because it was really hard after all.
For myself I gotta say, I´ll be here on the start next year again
for sure. It haven´t to be the Alps to ride hard, hard it almost
everywhere.
On the coming weekend, I´ll ride the Engadin-bike-marathon in
Zernez ( Swiss ) with two Pirate mates. Even this one I´ll ride
for the first time, I already know some parts of the course from
the Alp-challenge, and if we´re having good weather, it will be
a fantastic course.
So, don´t think about it too long, just come here and ride with
us… Chain mostright and hoist your colors high
