2009, a retrospective: Int. St. Wendeler MTB Marathon and Bank1Saar Marathon in St.Inbert
Better late than never – at this point a retrospective on tha last days in autumn and all the things you can call a highpoint at this time of the season in Saarland for the MTB-Marathon stuff. Year after year, but never boring. We´ll start with the Bank1Saar MTB-Marathon in St.Ingbert, where almost 600 participants started with best weather conditions for the 10th anually MTB-Marathon. I started on the half-marathon course. Luckily it had dried up from the heavy rainfalls the days before, something good. Well, the 48km and 1400m of altitude went quite good for me, I had lots of fun anf finsihed with a time of 2:32h, this was the 21th place in my age-group. During the race the ground dried up more and more, while all the wet stuff disappear in this area very fast, and their is not much space left for muddy parts.

Ramps and bomb-crater. Only two examples of the hghlights, for the amenities of the Bank1Saar MTB-Marthon in St.Ingbert. The next term on my schedule was the international St.Wendeler MTB-Marathon, it had a new and a little bit more ambitious course than the year before. The organizers did a good job with the new course, it pushed the hell out of you. Foy myself was the 110km marathon distance some kind of easy going, but this time, with the new passages and chicanes, I was really busy on the half-marathon. I did the 53km in 2:19h anf finished 25th in my age-group. I was satiesfied with this position, because the new course made lots of fun, as well.
My team mate Alex and myself: the dynamic duo, just before the show…
