Bone-crushing Borsberg
The peaks of the wine hills lay very smooth in the late summer sun and looked wonderful in the Pillnitzer Elbe-valley, and you only could only guess whats coming up on you, while running here.

The guys who started here in the years before, knew how they should train for this. Last Sunday was the the 8th Allianz Borsberg-run in Pillnitz/ Dresden, and nobody knew how the heavy rain falls of the last weeks, got a really negative effect on the course
The „ Running Pirates of the Lausitz“ participated here for the first time at this race thru wonderful terrain with beautiful scenery, and didn´t know how hard it would be, but they wanted to compete here with 5 Pirates on 3 runs of different distances.

At the beginning the Pirate offspring started at the „ Bambini-run“. Anna-Maria Mikwauschk(6), Nele Skopi(8), Lillian Hoffmann(8) und Leoni Lange(8) finished on the 300m distance and recieved and earned a „Pretzel“ medal.

After the start for the other distances, you had to run up the “ Wine hill way”, after some more km´s thru the forest, with an constantly up and down on steep ascent and fast downhill passages, we´re heading to the “ Deep Abyss” ( Tiefen Grund ) But the most ambitious part, came right after it, to run up to the peak of the Borsberg, sometimes you could only walk, so steep was it.
While the snake like queue of the participants suffere their way up, over roots, gravel and muddy ponds, the rain water of the last weeks came non-stoppable downhill.

The next ascent was hard as well, running up the Dobersberg, when you got there on the highest point of the running course and passed 350m of height, had a wonderful view over the Saxony-Switzerland, and than it just went dwonhill, passing the Reitzendorfer mill and the Meixgrund in direction to Friedrichsgrund. If you took a closer look on the last ascent, you were able to see the finish, at the foot of the wine hills. Exhausted, but happy over participated here, the Lausitzer Pirates ran across the finish line with waving the skull flag.

At the 12th Morgenpost Dresden marathon at the 24th of october 2010, some of the guys will participate as well, to show and proove what they´re made off.
