The problem is not really the cold, because cold, it is in every
winter. What make´s it impossible to run, is the snow. >The snow
and the ice, we´re not used to it, anymore.
At the beginning of november we all thought, how nice it would
be with really nice snow and a white christmas. When it started
to snow, we´re all excited about it. Lovely, to run in the snow.
Than it all was gone suddenly, and we were sad about it, if the
snow might or not return for christmas. But suddenly the snow
was back again, we had about 40cm of new snow, for about 9 weeks,
together with chilly freeze. The snow got frozen and the lower
parts under the snow became ice, so that running became something
look a like a freestyle dance art with some coordinative power
practise. Just a plain endurance exercise wasn´t possible. All
the running trails at my home area, got mutated to the Osningerjökull,
the dreaded glacier in the Teutoburger forest.
However the Pirates – Ironmonkeys – are ready to rumble.
Even if Andres is almost lost in the snowy forests, and even I
gotta use the Yaktrax for longer distances.
The time for excuses is over, nothing will pull us down, even
not the long hard, cold winter, and if we let him, the season
is over just before it already started. Well, obvious, it might
be very useful to exercise outside with these lower temperatures,
for Bergen. But the Open Waters, aren´t open yet...
