The
female Pirate team of eight, won in Duisburg the 24h MTB-race.
Even after the drop out of Benita Wesselhöft right before the
start (inury of her knee, had to be sewn by 12 stitches) orafter
the fast drop out of Anne Bertram ( after riding for two times
because of bad headaches), Doro Richters, Martina Stück, Renate
Heil, Melina Sen, Anita Olschnegger and Katharina Schäfer won
the 24h MTB-race with 2 ½ rounds in front for themselves.
But now, from the beginning:
As usually, everything went on my nerves before the race, because
you have to amuse and stick all the ladies of the team together
like a sack full of fleas… But this time everything worked as
planned and we able to arrive there on Saturday morning at 6:00o´clock
to prepare us for the race. But than the first shock…Benita,
one of out top-ladies, jumped on a sharp stone, while investigating
the course and…all over for her.
Anne by warming up on the driven roller…
Finns first victim: Gaby, first try,
after her spinal disk-operation, back aches are on the schedule
after sitting for such a long time…
Here are some of the girls, coming back from the registration…(
Renate is showing the V-ictory sign…does she know more than
I?)
This team were the most likable of the Pirate-team, especially
by overtaking them. J
And before the start, all the girls get a tattoo…
Not bad, or?
Renate is the queen, she recieves red carpet treatment….err…
Than all things become serious…Anita was the starting rider,
almost not seeable in the dust…
Here you can see Renate at the factory crossing…
Katharina in the transition area.
At this moment everything is allright, and we´re already building
up our lead...
Finns second try with a Kinesio Tattoo worked….Gaby – painless
!!! Yeah !
El Cheffe got everything under control !
Anne on her last change !
Anita is waiting desireable for her relief…
Here she comes, the best placed riding girl of Plettenberg of
all time ( at the 24h race in Duisburg )
Here you can see, Renate with the physio Finn ( I guess, thatßs
why she´s so fast…!?!?)
Here you can see our Mallorca-Paule from Plettenberg, he did
a 2-men-ream and finished ona really awesome 10th place overall.
The night fell on us and Melina already pimped her bike with
a back light…
And suddenly all thing became dark, the night arrived. Looks
really beautiful, doesn´t it?
Melina with her special accessoirs…sun-glasses by night very
important…and take a look at the transponder on her wellington
boots, yes she really rode with Gwellington boots.
Anita and Renate by changing transponder.
Martina and Katharina by changing.
...and than, the rain has come...
Melinas doping-Area.... or is „ Snaps and beer “ not a kind
of doping?
By the way, the „ Snaps“ from IKEA is not bad after all....err...
With the time running by, all the things became to get out of
use, but our girls are tough, and rode the wet clothes.
Lighted, like the daylight…
Melina brought the message to the girls, the race was stopped
because of the weather conditions.
....and later it was cancelled... Y-E-A-H !!!
Gaby and Finn are coming back from the material supply…
P.S.: after the race was cancelled, all the rest of the food
supply were seperated on each team-member, and so Finn got a
whole box of banana´s left…and on the way home, we thought about
all differnet kinds of dishes, which you can make out of banana´s…did
you already work it out Finn???
Here I stood before the podium, at the meeting of all team-leaders
and thought by looking down, this is a very funny picture…
Yeeeaaahhhh ! we did it !
Here the complete team, shortly before the winning ceremony:
From left to right: Finn, Anita, Renate, Katharina, Melina,
Doro, Martina, Gaby and Ron…Benita already went home shortly
after her accident. I hope for the riders and the organizer,
that it have been the last picture of the race ( take a look,
at the clock over us).
Our tough and strong winning girls…
…with their prizes.
We´ll come back next year, that´s out of question. J
See you next year…
As well, we´re planning for next year to start with more teams
in Munich and Duisburg, if you´re interesting, report at Ron.
