If 42km become 45km,…
Athletes of the „ body and shape e.V“ were with two teams on the start at the 9th run and bike in Neuzelle. A look at the temperature told us that it wouldn´t get to hot that day, we had temperatures around 7°C and the wind blew the rain over the Oder-dik. And if you got weather conditions like this it’s a tournament and no going for a walk…But the “Lausitzer running Pirates were aware of this, when they arrived at the gate of the abbey in Neuzelle that day the 15th of may.

But there is no wrong or false weather, only false or wrong clothes, so tighten your teeth and go on. Just to arrive healthy at the finish and give a good look was the slogan of the weekend and tournament, when they arrived one day earlier.

But first, we had to leave some place for the real tough guys, who choose to run the 100km ( about 35 teams) and were b eing forced on the track right at midnight. The fastest of them arrived only 6:30h later at the finish and so all the others( 246 teams ) started at 8:00°´clock on the 42km.

Well prepared and highly motivated went the runners Harald Skopi(31) and Jan Möller(42) as Pirate team 1 on the start, as well like Jörg Mikwauschk( one of the fittest bus drivers in Hoyerswerda) on the Pirate team 2. The 46 year old man is training constantly in the clup of “power and shape e.V” of Hoyerswerda and met there the Lausitzer running Pirates. With him we did during the last months the one or another running event. His team mate is Matthias Bressel(31), and started this weekend for the first time in the clothes of the Pirates and is now a member of the crew.
After the start the teams made up thir way by changing constantly between running and cycling over streets, trails and forest paths around Neuzelle/Eisenhüttenstadt. We had some really good strategies over how and where to change and wanted with this kind of strategy to bring in as fast as possible so many kilometers they can get. You can choose your own way the time of interval.

At the official point at 19km,the first food and beverage supply point, showed the distance counter of the Pirates a complete other distance, anyway the missing km´s were soon be brought in by changing even faster and re-filling bottle´s more faster than the others. Just getting the postmark and off we go again on the Oder-dike under heavy rainfall in direction of Eisenhüttenstadt. On the second point of control at 39km, we still had a difference between our and their amount of km´s. But the viewers supported us very good and tried to cheer us up, with shouting something like: you only got 6km to go left, Turn around and take a look at the signs??? No way…we, the Lausitzer running Pirates are fit and well trained for that kind of surprises, and thru shorter intervals of chaning, we were able to keep up the speed on 12 km/h until the finish. On last uphill part before the finish line, we had to mobilize all our power and strength reserves. This was the point of the Capt´n to take a profit of his long spinning cycling abilities and he did it, he made up two places and crossed the finish line after 3:39h and the 110th place overall and 9min later the second team finished and took the 140th place after “45” km. A very good performance of the fittest bus driver of HY and the Pirate-rookie. 8 teams did not finished. (story:I.Hellmann)
