He did not take one Stepp on the flagship he grabbed himself instead
of that rather a mug of rum – there were no more possibilties
– just enter another ship and off we go, Stephan, Lutz and myself
to Gütersloh. But this wasn´t the most worse decision of Porneauxx,
normally you need about 90min to Gütersloh but on Friday before
the whitsunday weekend you need about 4 ½ h. And because of that,
the butt and the legs ached like after a marathon.
When we arrived in Gütersloh there were a big spectacle. First
of all a children cycling race, than our first scooter run, than
again a cycling race, this time the rider had a bit longer legs,
than the final of the scooters just behind the derny-machine,
which are well known in the cycling scene and than again the derny´s
with a further time cyclists. The course was a 1km long course
around and thru the down town and pedestrian area with lots of
viewers and they staggered when they saw us, the scooters.
It was my first race of the the season and my preparation weren´t
the best this year, because in the last months I became a desk
scooter rider. Doing association and website work doesn´t train
your legs very much. Not really…
So, the race became for me a test to see where am I and what do
I still have to do, to kepp me upright on a scooter. When I stand
at the starting line, I thought to myself: Oh man, this are just
10km of easy going, but as often, I forgot the main thing called:
AMBITION !!!
Finally, on the home stretch I made up by 2 ositions and was really
satisfied with my 13th place overall after drinking a few beers.
It was a nice race which had its prosecution the next day.
