On last saturday Mike Sonntag from Rheine participated at the
marathon of Steinfurt
He trained and exercised very hard for this event, almost 13 weeks,
lasted his preparations for the 42.195km long running course.
He ran about 800km while he was preparing for this event, to get
him safety to the finish line.
The two rounds of the Steinfurt marathon arenīt the easist in
the marathon scene. It got very nastyascending slopes and many
parts were the wind almost blow you away and there werenīt that
much viewers by the side.
M. Sonntag wanted to use as much as possible the help of the time-runners,
until km 34 he ran with a group to reach the target within the
time of 3:30h.
Than he had to let the group go and he had to made it all by himself
to the finish-line.
But after exactly 3:33h he reached the finish. This menas he got
the 85th place overall from 334 participators and the 22nd place
in his age-group, where were about 88 starters. The winner of
the marathon was a guy from Poland, Pawel Szymandera with a time
of 2:38h.
