Soon, we´re getting started…

Now, only the radio equipment is missing in the Audi´s and than we´re able to drive – but the last seven days until the starting signal of the Allgäu-Orient-Rally in Oberstaufen, we can wait for. Lots of things happened in the last seven days. Starting with a really large “ message in a bottle“ from Hamburg. The other 110 teams, will be scaredof us -  when they see, the large skull on our breast -  the first price the camel, belongs already to us... Well, the time, when some things startes to break down, began with the arrival of the message in a bottle. I still hear me saying to my sugarbabe: let us wait, with unwrapping the bottle for Elvis, Koewy, Martin and Thomas…but… Because my „ Quattro“ got the most defects and won´t run anymore, the “blue” just were ready last week, form the rally. When I remember my first ride with my Audi Quattro in the year of 1989 with Ute, it was a disaster. We still saw out village “ Kapellen” in the rear mirrow, when all the red lights turned on, and the engine started to overheat, so our first ride, should be a ride like, I gonna showmy friends my new car, it was like getting hauled off-trip- On saturday, everbody of the „ Team West” arrived, and everybody got a some duties. The three “ Quattros” were taped and pimped up with skulls and our screwdriver changed the coolin-system exhauster for the engine and also I received from Koewy´s car his control pedal, the roof luggage rack were tighten to the cars and somehow, it got dark…we lost control off the time, while we´re working on the cars… Shortly before sundown, our problem child was ready, finally…and generally, a Quattro drives really directly. The power asisted steering and brake booster are almost ancient. For braking, its not enough to tip on the pedal, you need some muscle power to hit the pedal directly to the floor,a dn one finger is not enough for steering, you need tp wotk on the handlebar with both hands, but if the car is warming up, its like a slingshot, when you´re tipping on the foot throttle, and this makes fun. But for a short time, it wasn´t fun, because I know all the fixed gear speed camera´s, but I didn´t already know the real speed of the speedo. FLASH, RED LIGHT for a short time, I think I´ll receive some mail form the rural district n the next weeks. Myself on the handlebar of a rally-car… Next weekend, we´ll take a look at the road map, while we´re BBQ, to check out the roads to Istanbul, and than I want to learn „drifting“, we´re already tried it out in a sand hollow near by…I´ll report you soon… Lots of greetings from “ Team West” of the nicest village of the Lower Rhine area
