9. Grundfos Duathlon in Mettmann

Moin Moin Piratas, As I announced earlier, I started on the 17th of april at the Grundfos duathlon in Mettmann with perfect weather conditions. I was surprised, because I met three more triathlon-Pirates there( Maren, Reiner and Rober “chiKKen”). After some what´s up and hello´s, we did some photo-shootings, I hope, Reiner is not angry about it, that I use two of his pictures here in my bulletin. And soon, the duathlon started… Over 500 starters participated at the duathlon with the distance of 5-21-2,5km, it sounds easy, but the running as well like the bike course are really crispy... chiKKen and myself started in the first wave and started and ran quite good and came back to the transition area after 19minutes. When I came to my bike, I remarked that my neighbour packed all his things over mine, so I needed some more time, chiKKen past me in thre transition area, while I was searching for my stuff, and also chiKKen needed 2minutes less than me on the bike course, my respect to you… and on the second running part, I hit the wall, I was totally exhausted…  Here are my results: 19:03/38:53/11:23 Overalltime: 01:11:44, 12th place AG45 von 70. Next year, it won´t that easy for chiKKen to pass me( Thank you for my dreams) Well, by the way next year, the organizer of this event told us, because next year the duathlon is helt up for the 10th time, they will offer a longer distance maybe ( 10-40-5), I think it would be a nice idea, for the older guys…J Relaxed Pirates after the contest, thankss again to Reiner for the two pictures   We´ll see us at “ Ride around Cologne” Tom
