Hello Pirates,
finally it was the 29th of may, and it was time again, for the MTB-festival of the Tegernsee. While I wasn´t prepared very well, because of illness in the last three weeks, a broken bike( fork) was still in garage, and because of all this I travelled quiet cofident to Rottach-Egern.
Sadly the start time was delayed and so we had to wait very long in the starting blocks. I started on Course B( 56km and 1510m of altitude), and this course was started in two waves and so my starting time was delayed some more, because I wasn´t allowed to start in the first block. Obviously I wanted to finish under 3hours, but I think because of the good preparations in the last weeks it wouldn´t work and over night the organizers changed the course and so you had to add 120m to the altitude.
In spite of that, I was lucky when the starting signal came, I felt good and masterwd the first mountain quiet good aswell. Than you came to a passage, where you had to push your bike, and where everything jammed and so I almost stand for 5 minutes on the same point, this was really annoying. Than came the additional 120m of altitude with a following wonderful single-trail, as announced from the organizer, but I don´t know why he called it wonderful, the single-trail was just muddy, slippery roots and muddy passages where you had to walk in creeks, there was no possibilty of riding.
After this passage it was really hard to find your rhythm again, I needed 15minutes for that, and at this point, after 25km and more than 2 hours, I knew that I wouldn´t made it to the finish-line under 3hours.
So, I just wanted to finish the race, without any crash of damage.
But after all, it was a wonderful event and it was worth travelling here, and I will participate here next year again.
After 3:24h I crossed the finish-line and ended up in my age-group on the 171th place of 242 and overall 490th of 709, I was satisfied with this result.
Special thanks at this point to www.sportograf.com for the pictures.
Greetings
