Vierlanden triathlon or how hard it is to organize..

On the second of june I drove with Jan and a friend to Hamburg, we wanted to enter the city and to visit Ron and our Pirate-headquarter and also to participate on the middle distance at the Vierlanden triathlon on the 5th of june. On friday we bought some new clothes in Halstenbek and some new sticker for our car.   Saturday we visited downtown of Hamburg spent some money and afterwards to relax a bit, because sunday would be hard. The start was at 8:00o´clock, before they made the contest briefing, and what a briefing, after it, nobody knew, where to go or to swim until one starter of last year explained it again. Than came the starting signal and everybody ran into the Hohedeicher lake, which was a little bit warmer than 15degrees as announced, and after 2000m with a walk in between I escaped the waters after 42minutes, than I went on the 83km long bike course, which was complete flat, but also got lots of wind. Myback hurt a bit after the bike part, because I´m not used to rid this long on the aero-bars, and after 2:37h I made my way to absolve the closing 20km run part. Where we had no wind but sunshine and about 28degrees. Jan arrived meanwhile with his bike and with a ferry. Finally after 1:4:51h and altogether 5:11:09, I crossed the finish line. The worst thing during the race was the transponder on my ankle. I received a flesh wound from it, and I wanted to get rid of it really fast, and also I asked for the showers, but they haven´t got any showers. What??? I still have to drive 500km and no possibility to shower??? So, I jumped into the lake again, to cool down a bit. Aftrwards I wanted to wait for the winner ceremony, because I was the first in my age-group, and the only one. As well like the 3rd women at the championship of Hamburg on the middle distance, but they didn´t wanted to honor me, because I didn´t register for that. What??? When I wanted to attach blame, they didn´t want to hear anything and told me, that don´t want to being bothered with that. So, I just grabbed my bike and we drove home and I didn´t want to wait as well for my age-group ceremony. I did´nt want to shake any hands anymore. Thank you… Conclusion: Hamburg is a really nice town, but I won´t participate at the Vierlanden triathlon again for ever, and I´m sure, I´m not the only one… Doro My times by (Maxxtiming): Swim: 00:37:12.42 bike with change: 02:49:05.06 run: 01:44:51.59 overall: 05:11:09.07 My swim time is definitely to 5:30min to fast and the bike time 5:30 to slow, I can proove it. When I asked Maxxtiming, how to start and activate the transponder while you´re still in the waters…I still haven´t got an answer yet.
