Willingen 2011....on the way to the Bike TransAlp Challenge!

Shortly before 6:00o´clock in the morning I alarm-clock woke me up, and I made myself ready for the first race this year. On the way to the start, I prayed that it wouldn´t rain today and asked myself if I trained enough, and if 2000km I collected during my training were enough aswell, for the short course of 52km with 1626m of altitude and to reach a time under 2:30h??? While I was standing in the starting block, I met an old pale of me from the university, Fred from Hamburg… Shortly after the start, everything went on really fast, I felt good and pushed the pedals really hard for the next two hours….. But somewhere along the road, anyone pulled the plug, and all my power my legs were gone, many of the other irders I passed on the uphill passage, passed me again, easily… I was nearly killed by the last meters of altitude before Willingen…and after 2:50h finally I reached relieved the finish, and crossed the finish line with in snails pace. Afterall, it was a nice and wonderful weekend in Willingen, I felt like I was in a land of milk and honey. Now I got only 4 weeks left to prepare myself for the Trans Alp Challenge.
