Kerstcross in Eibergen at our Dutch neighbours

At the 26.12.12 I was at our Dutch neighbours to participate at the Kerstcross (= Christmas cross). Last year they showed the starting time on their website of the GOW-Cup, and I came to late. This won´t be happen again this year. So, I checked some other sites and different starting times, but they weren´t offered on the GOW-site.

The course was different than last year and about 5km long, not typical for a CX-race, but don´t care, so the possibility of being passed were really low. Also Bas Stamsnijder von Oldenzaal, a pro, was on the start and wanted to give us a hard job.

Lining up was like an adventure. They called out the numbers, first 1 to 5, than 6 to 15, my number was 8, so I lined up, but than, all the German starters had to leave the start area again. It was weird…Doesn´t matter…

Start, and soon I was at the back of the field, than we had a mass crash at a turn at the end of a meadow, but I found my way into the race really fast and were able to gain some places again, but I lost contact to a group of German, this was my mistake, so I had to fight my way all alone against the wind and the muddy course. Than a referee shouted finish, but it wasn´t me he mean the rider behind me, a class B rider, so I stopped, I looked, super, my German friend rode on and so, I made up my way again. But I only rode it easy, just meters in front of the finish I remarked that I got 2 riders close behind, who were a little bit more serious about the race. So, the race wasn´t all over, but I wasn´t able to stay in front of them and so they passed me and I ended up on the 17th place overall

The Kerstcross streak of bad luck won´t rip, maybe I should start next year in Hamburg???
Anyhow, now it´s time for a break, after lots of runs, MTB, triathlons and CC my body and head are screaming for a break. But I´m looking forward for the year of 2013…

Your Guido
