At the 21.07.2012 it was time again, all the Bike-marathon rider, will raise their tents in Albstadt, to participate at the 18th Albstadt Bike Marathon. More than 3000 bikers wanted to participate, and were an impressive scenery in downtown of Albstadt. But the race isn´z only impressive because of the large amount of bikers, even because of the starters, like Manuel Fumic, Jochen Kös and Bart Brentjes, it was like a small Olympic spirit….You even had a soft smell of a fishing cutter, because we were three PIRATES there and ready to enter the Swabian Alb.
Warming up there, wasn´t really a warming up, and you shoudn´t call it like that, because the weather and temperatures changes almost every minute from sunny and warm to cloudy and cold. At 10:00o´clock was the start of the race. Sadly I started from a block in the far end, so I had to ride an attack soon at the first ascent to close the gap to the group before me, because on the first 4okm is drafting worth like gold. The weather became more bad throughout the race. It was like riding in a lake while you were in the forest and because I wanted to take a closer look of the ground I made a salto of my bike, but because of the rain, I was almost clean when I reached the finish.
At this point I like to thank all the viewers and supporters, who cheer up every rider, no matter who he is or what weather it is. During the 2nd part of the race, I felt much better, and began to push the pedals harder and harder. After all, I took the 44th place in the Elite-Class with a time of 3:31 for the 86km and 1860m of altitude, under these conditions I`m satisfied with my result. But anyhow, it was a wonderful race, nothing for a Sunday rider and everybody who finishes here, can fight his inner really good..
