Altenau 20.05.2012

Early in the morning at 6:00o´clock, I thought really clear of my registration for the 120km distance race in Altenau. Last year I needed 6:52h for a course who was 4km shorter than this year. I arrived very early in Altenau and soon I met some other Pirates. Julia, waiting for her first start at a MTB race and Markus, who got problems with his shoes. I was really nervous and only thought about myself, that I wasn´t a good dialog partner. Warming up, checking the air pressuer of the tyres, will I reach the finish on time…??? Than…suddenly…MONI…I just heard, that she only wante to ride 80km, because she was ill, she had the flu, she was still coughing, got a running nose and her little toe was aching and…and…and… GIRLS, I thought to myself. So many words without breathing, so early in the morning, you can´t do that, if you´re a real man. So…warming up… For the first round, I wanted to do an easy job, just ride behind Moni and wait…it worked, until the 2nd narrow section. Everyone slipped thru it, besides me, I had to wait and had to get of my bike, and so I lost sight of her… I rode the first round in 1:55h, it was allright, the 2nd round in 2:10h, that was bad, because, normally I wanted to speed up…when I entered the 3rd round, it was very hard for me, you just pass the finish, you smell fried sausages, noodles, a cold beer…but…NO WAY…I rather like to ride another round… When I look back or to the front….no one in sight. You´ve to do everything on your own and got nothing to orientate on. When I reached the first supply stand, they told me, that two just passed here. I was able to catch them, it cost lots of power, but I made it, but when I had to pose for the camera of Drea and Markus shortly before the finish, I lost contact to them. I was very happy about the last meters towards the finish line, because Moni told me, that she would wait for me, because of noodles, cakes and more… But when I crossed the finish line after 6:32h on the 17th place of my age-group, Moni, already disappeared. FAIR-WEATHERED FRIEND… But at least, I wasn´t the last to reach the finish and I was 20minutes faster than last year. For insider…There is just one princess form e. Moni is just my little slut. You know, you´ve to work really hard for this title. We´ll see us in Kollerbeck for the CC. André Döring
