The 12h race of Bersenbrück is donation bike race. They collect money for a women´s refuge, a hospital and for the youth of the club. It was the 5th time, this race took part, but this year for the first time with a MTB-course. Anyway, we choose the roadbike race.

Well, early in the morning at 4:00o´clock we travelled to Osnabrück, while we have fog. When we arrived in Bersenbrck, we saw the first participants , some recumbent riders and one Velo-mobile. Soon, all the other participants arrived fort he start at 7:00o´clock, and the weater promised to be good. The race began with a common opening lap, while some cannot wait for the official start and accelerated and were gone. Sport and sportman ships does not always took the same ways…

During the first round, the men used to ride in front of me. I think, it´s a men thing…Anyhow…back to the race. The course was 18km long and lead thru Bersenbrück, cross country but at least over bitumen and the course was susceptible for wind on the first half, but on the second half it was light recovery for your legs. Twotimes you had to ride over railway tracks and the curves were really good to ride, even when wet.

After the opening lap, the race went on and really fast. Now the goal was to hold the leading group for as long as you can. There wasn´t that much women participating this race and the men rode a really good and fast speed. Every ascents were rode really fast, it was really hard to ride and we still had to ride for 11hours. During the 3rd round our group were 6, two rounds later just 4. And after the 7th round, Torben and myself rode all alone. After 7h I had a crash down, but it passed really soon, in between we had some rain as well. I was welcomed because of the temperatures of about 30degrees.

After 11:38h and 328km, the last round was over. I was totally empty and exhausted as never before
 Results of the day:
Torben: 3rd overall;
Myself: 1st place at the women ranking and rode more km´s than most of the men. Maybe the men thing, don´t work everytime…

Conclusion: It was a really successful event, just to get to know your limits with a wonderful course and a really good organization.
