Start of the swimming part is right in the heart of Pescara at the monument „ La Nave di Castelli“ directly at the beach. The swimming gor something of the Italien flair with swimming in the Adria. The locals were really nosey as well like the supporters while waiting for the swimmers to get out of the ocean, when they had to ran right thru the corridor of all the masses across the beach towards the transition area.
In the background you see the yellow buoys really good of the swim course.
At the beginning of the bike course, the way lead right next to the ocean heading north, before you came to the first ascent.
The region of Pescara, also a part of the Giro DÍtalia 2010, offers every thriathlete a wonderful bike course with a fantastic view over the Alps, like the Gran Sasso with almost 3000m.
A wonderful eyecatcher are the wine hill and the Olive garden, right next to some steep ascents and fast downhill sections. Here you felt the 35degrees for sure…
You really get motivated again, when you´re heading back to Pescara again, when you catch an eye of the horizon.
The half marathon starts right in the center of Pescara. It leads you drectly on the beach boardwalk with its Beach Bars just to turn into a loop course, right thru the most beautiful streets of the town.
Blazing heat, no shadow and you had to run 3times over a bridge with each time 80m of altitude…
Luckily, I felt really good on the running course, while lots of athletes had to walk in the end of the race…
The finish is also right in the middle of the town.
Densely packed thousands of viewers and spectators, while you were running over a red carpet, you fell like you´re flying…
A wonderful but really hard triathlon over the Ironman 70.3 distance…
