Heike goes TRIATHLON !!! J

Now it was time, for Heikés first triathlom. Obviously it should had happened quite earlier aber because of some other contests, like the German, West German Championships it was a little bit delayed, but now it should bet he triathlon in Ratingen. And so it came like this. While we had perfect triathlon weather, we made our way to Ratingen in the morning. Our strt was at 9:00o´clock and was the first of th day... When we arrived in Ratingen, we check-in and heded to the transition area and now remarked that Heike became more´n more nervous. To be honest I as well. But normally nothing could get wrong, Heike was perfectly prepared. One special thing about this contest was, that we would start togehter in the TRI 11 Super Team Sprint over the distance of 200m of swim, 10km bike and 2,5km of running. Just everything at the limits of your body. Some pro´s were on the start as well, likeJan Raphael with Rebecca Eßmüller and Niclas Bock with his mate. For me, it just was a fun contest, because I had an teeth operation during the week and my shoulder still hurt from the crash last week.The main thing was to get Heike to the finish. The contest should go on like this: First it was time for the female part of the team, she had to do the complete distance. N finish on the home straight, she had to run to the pool, to change to me with the chip and than I had to race, and than our times would be added to one overall time. It was a really good idea of Georg Mantyk, the rganizer of this event. Than it was time fort he party to start. Heike did a good job in the pool.  After a fast change to the bike, it was time to solve the really hard 10km bike course. I already knew the course from last year and decided that we both should ride with baskets on the pedals, because it was a super sprint and no time for changing the shoes two times. It it came like this, Heike could regain some places thru her change and was able to pass some on the bike part as well. She did a good job on the bike  and came back to the transitionarea with a really fast bike time, than it was time for the last 2,5km of running. The running course was really agled and not flat… Than she headed to the pool again, changed to me and than it was my time to race... My change took a little bit longer, because I had to re-fix the chip. Doesn´t matter, than it was my time to show what I´m best in: ATTACK... The 2nd change  to the running part was really fast, the baskets were worth it, because the running ways in the transition area are really long in Ratingen. We were on the 7th place when I entered the running course. Only the pro´s ahead of me. The Pirate support on the side, was the best. Already when I entered the bike course I saw Stephan Wimmers, with the raised Jolly Roger, the same thing when I got on the running part, when I passed him he yelled at me, tht Iwas just 2min behind the men before me. 2min I thought that´s to much a a super short sprint distance. But who care´s. I trie the best to gain more and more time, but on such n angled course, aou don´t see anyone before or behind you. What a pity…!!! I almost got him short before the finish, just 100m more and I would have had him, but..it´s not about me, it´s about Heike finishing her first triathlon. And I was really proud of her, everything went good, without any problems... At the end we were quite satisfied with the result, the 7th place overall. Of course, just the pro´s were ahead of us.
