Hello folks,

on Sunday the 03.06.2012, it was time again. Time for the SportSCheck MTB Festival at the Tegern Lake 2012. This time I already travelled there on Saturday and I was attended by my wife, the said two days before the weekend, that she would join me. So we booked a nice hotel, we would recommend you the “ Hotel >Berlin”, if you would travel toe the Tegern Lake. Just when we arrived we brought our luggage to our room and went to the festival area. Received the starting bag, attened the pasta-party and talked a little bit with Ubi, and we listend to the band” Unbottened Heart”, they played unplugged and were really good.
On our way back to the hotel, we took a little drink at “ Bistro Andre”, of course just water and than we went to bed. Sunday morning after the breakfast I prepared my biek for the race and went to the festival area, to warm up a bit.
At 11:00o´clock was the start for the B-race over 56,82km and 1503m of altitude, sadly the weather wasn´t that good anymore. It became cloudy and started to rain. This must be funny I thought to myself, but soon the weather changed and the weather became better again.
This time the organizers decided to separate the start into different groups. I stood in the front row, of the 4th block. That means, that you start a couple of minutes behind the front group, but at the next uphill section you met all of them again and it become to a traffic jam and had to push your bikes up. I donßt know why, but it is like that everytime, maybe next year it´ll be better. So, I lost lot´s of time, but no matter, soon the field will relax and you got fee space to rde. I felt really good today.

The last ascent was at km24 and you had to solve 550m of altitude at once. I have to say, that I never rode up a mountain so easily before in my life, but on the last 100m I had a technical defect. The shifter won´t work anymore and the chain, changed to the big chain in the front. So, I had to get off the saddle. To ride up the last meters up to the peak.

But I was able to get rid of the defect on the trail part of mud and mud, because I had to push my bike. Thank god. On the last 25km, it worked again, we just have small uphill sections and mot of the time you rode downhill. That made really fun.

After 3:19:51h I crossed the finish line, 5miuntes faster and 49places better than last year, for a course which was 2km longer but with almost equal m of altitude.

I was all satisfied. I ended up on the 364th place overall of 701 and in my age-group 122th of 247. It was a really nice contest and I´m noisy about the 10th race next year. I´ll participate next year again forsure. So, next weekend, it´s time totravel to Munich fort he 24h race.
