Mud´n rain …

After my half marathon in Bonn, I wanted to compete at some smaller events to gain some speed strength with the goal to keep the speed, collecting meters of altitude and to exercise races with a negative split. It´s better to train this during a contest than during a pure exercise unit. The frist run for my to test my new trainings schedule was the May run of the team of Hansa Simmerath in the Eifel on the 10km distance. But better kep ,my mouth shut, after two weeks of alternative training on the bike. The weather promised a wonderful ground and th temperatures of 5degrees as well.

At least we had open Sunday in the shops.

No way, it wasn´t wet, it just looked like that.
The start of the run was at 13:00o´clock, and I wasn´t alone, Bernd came to support and join me.

Guido also told me that he would participate. Whew, that must be fun, with all these guys. I wanted to run on the first half 4:20min/km and than to run a little bit faster on the 2nd half. As I said, it was the schedule.

The course was first steeply sloping and the schedule is something what´s left when fantasy and reality collapse. First Ir an to fast, because of the others and ran to fast. So, I slowed down, and hoped that I didn´t started to fast, that I still would be able to see the finish. Guido passed at point 2km. Bernd and Myself ran together, and with a time of 20:45min we passed the 5km point. Oops, a little bit to fast, now it´ll be getting harder, but at least the scenery was wonderful and the rain  and the soft path´s.

Did I already mentioned the rain and the soft path´s?  At km6 I reached Guido again, he said he bursted and wouldn´t be able to run faster anymore and so I decided to run my very own speed.

7,5km. Ascent again. When does this all end??? My pace 4:34, damn it. Than 8,5km, the course is almost flat again, what´s that, oh someone placed a pizza on the ground, watch out your feet. On the last km, another but last ascent. Push, Push,…

Did I already mentioned the rain?
After I crossed the finish line I checked my watch and the official time said the same, I needed 41:18,7min. That was my 2nd best time over this distance, only 29seconds slower than in Leverkusen. But next time, I promise you, that I´´ follow my schedule.

By the way….did I already mentioned the rain ;-) But it made fun….
